It’s short for “Bend over, here it comes again.”
As an employee, you can look forward to an endless series of change projects. Unprecedented amounts of hours and money have been spent on Lean, efficiency and other measures.
The common denominator is that the many good intentions can be lost on the floor when the consultants are out the door. Be careful – consultants can be excellent at creating change, but they can’t do the job alone. It’s the long, cool move that creates a new culture.
In many organisations there is no co-responsibility for continuous improvements. In some places, the responsibility is placed with an employee without special support for the task. It is not easy to have to carry out a long-term change alone, and you should not expect it to make a difference.
Communication, communication, communication
Improvement processes can only work if the effect can be communicated sharply.

If action is to hang on, then there must be champions and ambassadors who insist that the production must live up to its best. Of course, making visible and showing that what the team is working on produces good results creates motivation.
That’s also why board meetings can make a difference. Common overview of production, joint discussion of the situation, and joint agreements on future improvements bring together and results.
No backing, no effect
The opposite is also a possibility. Without the support of top management, too little time and resources will often be set aside to produce results.
When the process crumbles, everything returns to the old normal at some point. You can guess the end yourself – later it’s found that efficiency needs to be up, and then it’s time to shout “Bohica!”
