Industry 5.0 in Opticloud
Most of you know what industry 4.0 is, or at least you might have heard about it once or twice before. Put in simple terms, industry 4.0 is where you interconnect machines, devices, and technologies. Often you do this with data, lots of data. It’s not an error that we are writing industry 5.0. Industry 5.0 is where the human element comes into play.
Opticloud merges technology and data with human input through several interfaces and technologies. We do this to serve two major purposes:
- Giving operators and managers more access to their data from their assets, hereunder potential optimizations and thereby an easier day and
- Giving managers and directors the data for making the correct decisions.
Both are very relevant in a typical industrial production factory. We see the same problems and pains at all factories and all pains relate to poor data collection, poor data visualization, and poor interfaces between humans and technology.
Almost all machine builders and factories are operating in 4.0 on some level today and almost all machine builders and factories have machine data stored on some PC or in a database somewhere. But many machine builders and factories do not have the capabilities to utilize this data or let alone know what data to use.
Humans need good interfaces to leverage data and its capabilities. Opticloud does exactly that; solves the problem that all humans have with data.
Factory efficiency and how to optimize production
Every factory and machines builder strives to be more and more efficient and to lower the cost per unit produced. This can be done in many ways, with or without data. Without data, you normally would try and optimize based on gut feelings and experience, but this leads to insecurities, unreliable investments, and often more luck than certainty.

One of the key ways the platform can help you save energy is by optimizing your production to lower the amount of energy needed to produce a unit. We measure this in kWh/unit produced.
We also help in other ways like optimizing routes, increasing performance from the availability and planned production time, and presenting the data to involve people at all levels of the factory.
By collecting data such as kWh, heat, flow, and vibration you’ll also be able to make detailed CO2 reports for your customers, suppliers, and governments. You will be for example be able to tell the energy and CO2 footprint per order or per product you produce.
