Bohica
by OptiPeople Team

"Bohica" is the word many employees have in the back of their minds when one more improvement project rolls in and nobody follows up on it afterwards.
Far too many change projects promise higher efficiency. But once the consultants have left and the daily pressure is back, the effect disappears.
Improvement needs shared ownership
Lasting change cannot rest on one person.
In many places, continuous improvement stalls because:
- too few people carry the responsibility
- teams don't get the support they need
- the work is run as a short campaign, not as a habit
Real change needs many people on board, and a culture that keeps the work alive once the kickoff is over.
Show that it works
Improvement work only sticks when people can see that it gets results.
That is why it matters that production data is visible to everyone. It lets you:
- show how things develop over time
- prove that your actions work
- build motivation, because everyone sees the same numbers
Short whiteboard meetings at the line and shared production reviews are two practical ways to keep your teams agreed on where you stand and what happens next.
No backing, no lasting effect
Without backing from leadership, improvement programs usually lose time, energy and credibility.
When the resources disappear and priorities shift, production slides back to the old normal. Sooner or later a new efficiency project starts, and the cycle repeats.
The point is simple: change projects only create lasting value when the whole organization backs them, talks about them and sticks with them.
